The Blue Economy was in the spotlight this week as more than 550 people from 18 countries came to San Diego for the 10th annual Blue Tech Week.
Organized by the non-profit Maritime Alliance, Blue Tech Week focuses on the ocean economy, which generated $1.5 trillion in activity as of 2010 and is forecast to reach $3 trillion by 2030, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The weeklong event wraps up on Friday.
The theme of this year’s conference centers on how the maritime industry can help reach the United Nation’s sustainable development goals, said Greg Murphy, head of the Maritime Alliance.
