Greta Van Fleet will vie for four Grammy Awards in February, the latest career milestone for the young Michigan rock band.
GVF emerged from Friday's announcement with nominations in four categories, including the prestigious best new artist category
The band will also contend for best rock performance ("Highway Tune"), rock album ("From the Fires") and rock song ("Black Smoke Rising").
The Grammys will be held Feb. 10 at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
Other Detroit nominees revealed Friday include Eminem, up for best rap song with "Lucky You." Violinist Regina Carter is up for best improvised jazz solo ("Some of That Sunshine"), while Bettye LaVette will contend for best Americana album ("Things Have Changed") and best traditional R&B performance ("Don't Fall Apart On Me Tonight").
Greta Van Fleet, which hails from Frankenmuth, was up for music from its eight-song "From the Fires" EP, released late last year. The band's full-length debut album, "Anthem of the Peaceful Army," was issued after the Sept. 30 eligibility cutoff for next year's awards.
"We are all so very honored and humbled to have been nominated for a Grammy Award, and so appreciative for the love and support we get from our fans, because we do what we do for them," the band wrote in a statement Friday afternoon. "All of the wonderful things that have happened to us over the past year, including these nominations, is because of our fans, the Peaceful Army."
In the best new artist category, GVF is up against Chloe x Halle, Luke Combs, H.E.R., Dua Lipa, Margo Price, Bebe Rexha and Jorja Smith.
